| Outline Scheme of Work
A-level Biology at Skinners' follows the OCR specification:Syllabus Code 3881 = 'AS'Syllabus Code 7881 = 'A2'In the first year, AS students take three Units ( often called 'modules'), these are: 211 - Cell Biology+Transport 212 - Biochemistry + Human Health and Disease 213 - Practical Skills (like an ISA at GCSE) - you do two of these; best marks count. 211 comes first and is examined by a written exam in January. 212 is examined in the summer of your lower sixth year. The practical ISAs occur just before Xmas and just before Easter. ( No particular religious reason for this - it just suits us) Look at the 'Outline Scheme of Work' below for more detail.
Subject to a 'good' performance in the Lower Sixth ( ideally grade C or better), A2 students then take three more Units in the following order: 214 - Central Concepts ( worth 15% of final A-level mark) - January exam. 215 - Option (worth 15% of final mark) -summer exam 216 - More ISA work (worth 20% of final mark - i.e. 10% each)
